New Directions

PageWands

The Page of Wands
by Heather Blakey

The Page represents my youthful, maiden self who is freed from many external pressures and is willing to experience new aspects of life. She is saying yes to life and is prepared to say yes to any opportunities that present themselves.

The Page here symbolizes a new beginning, the start of a new project and a new phase of life. She is a part of me that has been marginalized, who I do not know well enough, whose hopes and dreams have long been relegated, left to gather dust on shelves.

Pose a question about your new directions, shuffle your deck mindfully, take ONE card and work with the card that emerges. To aid your work read the interpretations of others and check out the meaning of symbols that are present. I use, amongst other reference books, Barbara Walkers Encyclopedia of Symbols.

Here is one response from a fellow traveller.

All thoughts on this card will be welcomed.

  1. Oh Heather she is just so beautiful -- serene and quietly confident as she moves forwards towards the next, unseen, phase of her life.

  2. Thank you so much Edith. It is the serenity and quiet confidence that has filled my being that I have found almost disconcerting. I keep wondering when it will evaporate.

  3. I love this idea of using the Tarot to explore parts of the self that have been marginalized and forgotten. My quest to establish the goals that will lead me forward had led me to the same point yesterday. Now I have a way of focussing my musings. Thanks so much for starting this group Heather.

  4. My pleasure Sue. I have been working with the cards all year, since it became obvious that Mum was deteriorating fast and I have found that accessing a higher self in this way, has given me strength. Now I need to do a bit of housekeeping and check out just what is on those dusty shelves.

  5. I think when we become wives and mothers we do tend to put ourselves last. I think this can result in a lack of confidence. It will be a little while before the books arrive, so I will use the deck book for starters.

  6. There is the deck book but remember that you can always Google and get an online reading as well. I used to do that at first Personally I like learning slowly and I am building up a collection of notes about cards as I go. I find some recurring. Now the Star has appeared to remind me that hope lives on.

  7. This is giving me much to think about, especially now that I have drawn the Queen of Swords.

  8. I have always found the Queen of Swords draws out a lot. She has plenty to tell me about myself.

  12. Thanks Jill and Vi. I am so pleased you feel I have captured the serenity and wisdom Jill. One of the things I am pleased about is that I can see a definite style within my drawings. Like you Vi, I am excited about this journey within. To me, the cards are like the staff others might lean on. They will help me see things I might otherwise miss.
